Abdomen

AbdomenimageoneAffecting both women and men, an accumulation of fat and excess skin on the abdomen is a common problem that can be difficult to tackle with diet and exercise alone and is often a source of embarrassment and distress.

During your comprehensive consultation with Mr Hassan Shaaban he will perform a thorough physical examination and determine whether the condition is mild, moderate or severe and the degree of skin laxity that is present.

Excess fat with a mild to moderate degree of skin laxity will respond to liposuction, but severe skin laxity is best treated with a surgical procedure called an abdominoplasty. Mr Shaaban is a consultant plastic surgeon so is able to offer the best procedure for each individual patient’s requirements.Abdomenimagetwo

Laser Liposuction is gradually replacing traditional liposuction in the treatment of the abdomen area. A problem commonly associated with conventional liposuction is the presence of lumps and bumps post procedure. Laser Liposuction is able to offer a much smoother contour, because of the way the fat is liquefied before removal and also due to the degree of skin tightening that is achieved at the same time.

Laser Liposuction is performed under local anaesthetic so recovery time is much quicker and there is less downtime associated with Laser Liposuction. Mr Shaaban injects a local anaesthetic solution through two to three tiny incisions and, when the area is numb, the laser probe is inserted through the same incisions. Laser energy is then directed into the fat and skin before the dissolved fat is removed. Results can be further improved by wearing a pressure garment for a few weeks after surgery.

For a smoother, tauter appearance to the abdomen, Mr Shaaban believes that Laser Liposuction represents a breakthrough in treatment options.
